Corning Glass Works’ Vycorâ compares favorably with quartz and fused silica. It has an extremely low co-efficient of expansion and it is very stable for all viewing purposes and enviroments. Vycorâ and fused silica are very similar in composition and differ primarily in the process used to form them. The expansion coefficient for Vycorâ is 4.2 x 10 -7 in /in oF while fused silica is 3.1 x 10-7 in/in. oF.
Vycorâ is used for diagonals up through 2.61" minor axis. Larger diagonals are made from either fused silica or Vycorâ .
CUSTOM DIAGONALS*Other sizes can be made to meet the requirement of the fabricator. This includes diagonals made from Pyrexâ , fused silica , quartz, low expansion ceramics and other materials. Please submit a drawing with the dimensional sizes required to facilitate our quotation process.
