GLASSBLOWING, by Homer L. Hoyt, 267 pages, hardbound, published 1989. The author presents the art of glass blowing in lesson form. The introduction covers the history of glass blowing, tools, and equipment. It preceeds to explan the setup, use of the torch, hazards, and how to hold and turn the glass. It then covers thr fundmental procedures for cutting, gathering, fusing drawing, and annealing the glass. The book then walks the reader through ten lessons. It also explains the art of making blown glass tubing projects. Oriented towards artisitic applications but has practical applications.
VACUUM SEALING TECHNIQUES, by Alexander Roth, 860 pages, hardbound, published 1994. The author covers presents numerous techniques developed in the early 1960s for the efficient, construction of reliable vacuum seals, and provides critical insights into the design, construction, and assembly of vacuum systems. Included is a section on Glass to Glass (and quartz) seals.
